if i link someone to something i self host, i mention it gives me access to find out their ip address and they could use a vpn if they were concerned about privacy
anyway ive started to think this gives off “not involved in human trafficking tshirt” vibes because nobody has ever found me mentioning this remotely normal or reassuring

@gintoxicating@transister.social I think this depends on just what self-hosted services you are sharing. Some kind of Git fork? Sure, whatever. They will generally understand.
If you say "Oh, it here's the Immich I run. Oh, and by the way I can see your IP" - odds are that if they nope out for that reason, you may need to keep an eye on them.
