@ariarhythmic “know your customer”. Basically keeping a record of your legal identity and strongly verifying it through governmental records. It is primarily a process used by banks by law to prevent funding terrorism.
Basically it’s a very privacy invasive verification im guessing is outsourced to a thirdparty start up.
Or, in the USA, it’s like signing up for a future class action lawsuit for when there’s a security vulnerability and your doxx gets exfiltrated. The reward will be a year of free identity guard.
