sorry fluxer lost me by requiring my full DoB at signup, and it became a hard pass when I found this help article.

It’s entirely asinine you require an ID to fix my DoB but not to originally set it. One could also call it a trap (but reallyI just like when Greedo says that in Star Trek! So cute)

Also what if I didn’t sign up with my legal name what is the ID gonna do.

(this kid really should be asking people to send PII like government ids in over plain email, for his own safety)

btw they initially started to lose me by just copying Discorfs shitty monetization strategy of artificial limits and user hostility as a business strategy.

I’m not saying they are fascists or evil or unsafe to use; I don’t think they are. I think it’s fine, and if people feel comfortable using it great. Don’t send them a scanned ID though lol

(Also, switching to a different centralized chat platform is just robbing Peter Paul to pay someone else though. Mary?)

fr trying to be helpful with the processing PII bit: I ran a startup for as long as the founder of Fluxer has been alive. I handled PII begrudgingly and in my experience one should go to excessive lengths to avoid that liability. I had to collect social security numbers and woof handling that shit with care is neither easy nor obvious. Even if I never leaked their data (I never did) you can still get sued, easily, if someone suspects you did.
