i post for attention and affection (youngest child thing): memes, tech rambles, newly acquired domain names, and short irreverent nonsense i think is funny

seattle based. single parent. self-unemployed after 20 years in big tech

(former was causal to the later)

i don’t use ai in my writing because it capitalizes words, and also because writing is the fun part for me (you do you!)

did you know you can get a domain that only costs about a dollar per year?

the .xyz extension has something called 1.111B Class Domains. These are domains they only charge about a buck for, both initial registration and renewals. (There are many domains where you can get the first year for cheap, but then they jack up the price. It's like Columbia House but for a domain.)

The catch? The domains kind of suck! Available under this program are 6- to 9-digit numbers. So. Yeah.

But if you need a testing domain, or just want a domain but can't afford the rent of a more expensive option...

If you want to spend a little bit more for a domain you can, like, use letters on - .top domains are about $2 to register and $6 to renew.

You should be able to register these at any registrar and get a low price.

yes 8675309.xyz is taken

@tapbots why does the Pastebot page say "Texas state and local sales and use tax is included in the sales price"? I won't incur a Texas state/local sales and use tax obligation. I WILL incur a Washington state/local sales and use tax though.

This sounds like I'm paying taxes I don't owe to Texas AND will owe a tax payment to my local jurisdiction as well?
